Blast Through Your Weak Links With The Power of Forced Acceleration

Lifeline USA TNT Cable

After listening to an interview in which top powerlifting coach Louie Simmons discussed the benefits of resistance band training, I got excited about giving it a shot. One of the things that Louie does is apply resistance bands to barbells to add variable resistance to exercises such as: bench presses, squats, and deadlifts. The bands cause the resistance to increaserather than decrease as each rep nears completion. This allows the trainee to get much stronger in mid level sticking points and lockout sticking points. Which just so happens to be where most sticking points are. Louie explains that the body naturally puts the breaks on when you pass the mid point on an exercise. For example, if you press a barbell overhead as fast as possible, your CNS (central nervous system) will attempt to slow the speed of the rep down as it nears completion. This is to prevent you from slamming the weight up too hard and damaging your joints. However, consciously slowing down a heavy weight will get you smack in the middle of a sticking point and eventually make a rep impossible to complete. With resistance bands you learn how to apply forced acceleration, which allows you to blast through sticking points. Don’t worry you will not get so fast that you damage yourself with heavy weights. That is like worrying about making too much money gambling.

For the purpose of adding resistance to barbells, I recommend “Ironwoody” resistance bands at IronWoodyFitness.com

However, if you are a kettlebell enthusiast like me or you want the best portable gym on the market, you need to get Lifeline’s TNT cables. Unlike barbells, I do not recommend adding resistance bands to kettlebells for training. First, it is very hard to get the bell in place with a band attached to it for Military presses. Two, with the band attached to the kettlebell, it becomes a much different exercise, as the trajectory changes. A much more efficient alternative is to use Lifeline’s TNT cable. The TNT cables are connected to handles on both ends. You can position the handles in the exact same position as you would on various kettlebell exercises. For example, you can position the cable handles in the same position as you would two kettlebells for double military presses. When you press the handles you can take the same pathway that you would take with two kettlebells. It is fairly easy to get the handles into place and the resistance bands are high quality. Thus, you do not have to worry about the bands tearing in half during a repetition.

Several weeks ago, I did an experiment in which I used the TNT cables for military presses everyday for a week. I did 3-5 reps 5-6 times per day for six days. At the end of the week, I did a few sets with kettlebells and was shocked. Two 88lb bells accelerated all the way to the top on all four reps. Usually, things start slow on the first rep and get really slow by rep three. I set a new PR of six reps a week later. The TNT cables built my stabilizer muscles up tremendously which gave me more control over the kettlebells for pressing. In addition, I learned how accelerate through my usual sticking points and keep the tension and speed high on to compete each rep. The TNT cable is by far the best tool for teaching full body tension for pressing. Just getting the handles in place for pressing automatically gets your body tight and tense for maximum power.

While the personal record on the kettlebell Military press alone is worth the price of the TNT cable, it can be used for far more than Military presses. If you want to build up your biceps, try doing curls with the cables. Unlike weights, the resistance builds as you near completion and the longer you keep tension on the muscle the faster it will get bigger and harder. You can attach the cables to a door and work on pull throughs for your glutes and hamstrings. Cable pull throughs are great for improving deadlift strength as well. You can even do swings and snatches with the cables. However, you are restricted to the lighter bands as these are ballistic moves that have to be done rapidly for safety and effectiveness. The TNT cables can also used to work the core by doing exercises such as the ‘Russian Twist.”

The TNT cable is a great product in and of itself. If you travel a lot you will have the lightest home gym on the market that can be used just about anywhere. No more using crummy hotel gyms with dumbbells that go up to a whopping 25lbs! The TNT bands start as light as the equivalent of 60lbs and go all the way up to over 200lbs. Most people will have their work cut out for them with three pink bands. Stronger trainees will need two yellow bands, very strong trainees will want three yellow bands, and super strong trainees can go beyond that. Stop being frustrated with unnecessary sticking points and zero gains in training progress. Order the TNT cable today and get to work.
