Indecisiveness is a sure-fire way to never be successful at any endeavor whether it is making money, physical training, or going to the store to do groceries. People that take forever to make decisions are the same people that change their minds every five minutes. We all know people like this. Every time you talk to them they have a new goal that they are working on. One day they want to be a firefighter, the next day they want to be a stockbroker, next week they will probably want to be a drag queen.

Making a decision requires sacrificing something else, as you cannot do everything at once. At least you cannot do everything really well at the same time. This is the hard part as many people want it all and ironically end up with not too much.

Making a decision quickly does not mean that careful planning is not applied. It just means that it is done efficiently and quickly rather than drawing things out unnecessarily to avoid having to make a decision. The longer you wait to make a decision the longer you avoid having to commit to that decision which is probably why many people are slow decision makers. Not making a decision is a delaying tactic and in the end you are still making a decision. The problem is that it is not a pro active one.

The more decisions you make quickly the better you will get at it. Sure you will make some mistakes, but you will be making those mistakes quickly and will be able to move on quickly as well which is another critical component of success.

2. AGGRESSIVE STRENGTH TRAINING ARTICLE

Program Cycling

Cycling training often is a good way to avoid unnecessary plateaus and training boredom. However, training modifications do not have to be dramatic. You do not have to do completely different exercises every workout or have completely different rep schemes each session. Many years ago, I purchased a program called “Serious Growth” by Leo Costa. Leo outlined a training concept called micro-periodization in which training is cycled over the course of the training week rather then every three months. Leo’s program had too much volume and intensity for most trainees. However, the concept of micro-periodization is still sound and with a few modifications, his program is very effective. Here is a sample program for strength training:

Week 1-4

Monday

Tuesday

Wednesday

Thursday

Friday

Saturday

Take three-minute breaks in between each set and avoid going to failure. However, in the third week of the program take exercise (except the core work) to your limit. In other words, go for your rep max as indicated for each day. Otherwise, leave one rep in the bank on each set.
