I have to laugh when I hear people talk about the good ole days in college and how they wish they could go back. I have even heard some people talk about how high school was the best years of their life. You have got to be kidding me? Chances are that the past was never as great as you remember it anyway. You are just focusing on the positives and forgetting the negatives. Lets use my example. When I was in college, I worked at a minimum wage job to have some spending money. I drove a dilapidated station wagon in which the passenger side door could not open. I had to take classes that I did not want to take at times in which I did not want to take them. Now of course there were many positives as well such as I learned a great deal and took a lot of classes that I enjoyed. Regardless, here is my life now. I live six blocks from the beach. The weather where I live is great pretty much everyday. I run my own business in which I am doing exactly what I want to do with my life and make a good amount of money doing it. Moreover, I create my own schedule and do not answer to anyone. Moreover, there are gorgeous women everywhere and you cannot beat that.

Why would I want to relive the past when my present is what I want? The fact of the matter is that if you are not in the present you are nowhere. There is no reason why right now cannot be the best time of your life. Then in five years that should be the best years of your life. Forget about some idealized past that never was and enjoy the moment.

How To Make The Turkish Get-up More Effective

One of the best exercises for the core is the Turkish Get-up. Here is how it is done. Lie on the floor and press a dumbbell or kettlebell to full extension. Keeping the weight locked out at all times, roll to the opposite side and use your free arm to push you into a lunge position. Look at the weight and stand up. Now reverse the position back to the floor. As effective as the TGU is, my friend and top strength coach Steve Maxwell found a way to make it even more effective, "I have come up with some very evil variations to make the TGU even more effective for the torso muscles. Because the shoulder muscles are usually the weak link, I often have my charges perform sit-ups prior to doing the get-ups. The abdominals now become the weak link. You will be amazed at how your abs will cramp and burn during the get-ups after performing the sit-ups first. Immediately do the getups with minimal rest after the sit-ups."
