The situations that we place ourselves and find ourselves in really play a tremendous role in the people that we become. In addition, the people that we associate with certainly influence the people that we ultimately become. If you place yourself in negative situations over and over again, your life will be consumed with negatively. Same thing goes for the people that you associate with. If all of your friends are negative and strive for mediocrity, chances are that you will not be the one person that rises above the herd. If you hang around people that are breaking the law, you may end up guilty by association. All it takes is being at the wrong place with the wrong people at the wrong time to ruin your life.

Do your best to place yourself in situations that bring out the best in you and surround yourself with people that inspire you to be better. You will create a pattern of synergistic positive energy that will pay big dividends in shaping your character.

2. AGGRESSIVE STRENGTH TRAINING ARTICLE

Take A Week Off To Get Back On The Road To Progress

This may seem like an obvious tip, but it is much harder for serious trainees to implement than you may think. Unlike, the majority of people that are coach potatoes, the prospect of not training for an entire week can be daunting for serious trainees. Part of getting stronger and increasing conditioning, is not only knowing when to hit the floor running, but knowing when to put the brakes on. Failure in achieving this balance will stunt your progress at some point. Usually, this occurs sooner rather than later. Cycling intense training with moderate training is an effective way to avoid overtraining. However, you cannot always get it right and tapping your reserves is inevitable at some point.

If you have been training for a month straight and you feel like you are working harder at each workout to move the same weight around, it is time to take a few days off and then follow that with 2-3 active recovery workouts only before jumping back into the game. If you are getting weaker at each workout, then take an entire week off from training completely. I also recommend getting a deep tissue massage at the beginning of the week off. Get a good sports massage therapist to really get in there and break up all of the scar tissue. Usually, you require a few days off from training after an intense deep tissue massage, so this is the optimal time.
